Meet The Team

Formed in 2017, Red Crow Films is headed by Portland, OR-based filmmakers James Sweet, Karl Whinnery, and Freddy Heath, who first collaborated on the short film Blood and Sugar (2017).

Our team not only shares a common passion for quality filmmaking but also a fond devotion to the Friday the 13th franchise. JASON RISING is our way of showing appreciation for the films that many of us grew up with during the 1980s.


 

James Sweet - Director, Writer, Producer
James began acting in 1997, training with several methods and instructors including long-time friend Robert Blanche. James is known for his vast resume, acting in such television shows, Z Nation, and The Librarians. Always wanting to be a filmmaker, James wrote and produced his first short film, Blood, and Sugar, in 2017. 

Karl Whinnery - Producer, Director of Photography, Editor
Karl is a cinematographer, known for the film Blood and Sugar (2017) and for shooting and editing over 100 music videos for bands including VINTERSEA, Skinlab, and Dead Animal Assembly Plant.

Vincente DiSanti - Co-WriterVincente DiSanti is an award-winning filmmaker responsible for the most well-known Friday the 13th fan films to date, NEVER HIKE ALONE and NEVER HIKE IN THE SNOW.

Freddy Heath - Producer/ Co-Director of Photography​
Freddy has been creating in the Portland film scene for the last fifteen years as a writer, director, producer, actor, editor, and gaffer. In that time he has enjoyed working with many creative people, produced films and web series, served as the in-house music video director for a record label, shot over fifty music videos, and even built some puppets.​

Christina Kortum - Make-up / Special Effects
A master special FX artist with credits including Grimm, The O.A., and Cabin Fever, Christina will be overseeing all of our critical make-up for Pamela Voorhees so that we can offer some fantastic GORE-ified goodness.
